Bangkok Sinking

If the “Clash” were still around (not the Thai one the originals one) they could follow up on their “London burning” album with a “Bangkok Sinking” one. Indeed this morning the Nation newspaper published the first call to move the Thai capital up to the Northeast on higher ground because Bangkok is threatened by rising sea levels and flooding problems.

This alarmist article got me curious and i wanted to know whether there was more to this warning and I googled “Bangkok Sinking” to see what information I could get. Basically this is no good at all. Nearly all experts agreed that as a result of climate change, rising sea level, coastal erosion and a variety of other converging factors will ultimately lead to the end of Bangkok as we know it.

Bangkok Sinking Basically the only question left is not whether Bangkok or part of Bangkok will end up under water as basically every expert agrees that this will happen but when. Some says it will happen in 2030, others in 2050 and finally some give Bangkok breathing space until 2070 depending on what measures this and the next Thai governments will take to protect the city.

Will real estate developers ends up offering swimming jackets and dinghies to prospective condo buyers? Of course dinghies would come in different sizes depending on whether you purchase a one, two or three bedrooms. If you are looking for a business idea here it is.
