I had the opportunity to assist a few clients to invest in Myanmar over the years and I was always impressed by the potential of this country and saddened by the fact that this country could not unfortunately, due to political unfavorable circumstance develop itself as it should.
Is Myanmar about to leave the purgatory and to enter a new area? We would think so with all the good news coming from there. What is happening in Myanmar is simply stunning. The Government signed a cease-fire agreement Thursday with ethnic Karen rebels ending one of the world’s longest-running insurgencies and meeting a key condition for better ties with the West.
Hundreds of political prisoners have been released including former prime minister and military intelligence boss Khin Nyunt, who was placed in detention after his ouster in a 2004 power struggle. The release of political prisoners was also a condition of Western nations for the cancellation of the sanctions that have been impeding Myanmar economical development.
Democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi’s opposition party hailed the release as a “positive sign”. The current Prime Minister has also hinted that Aung San Suu Kyi’s could become a member of a next government if she was elected Member of Parliament at a next partial election.
Myanmar is definitivly moving the right way. If you need any information in relation to investing in Myanmar do not hesitate to contact us
