Companies which tax year end at 31 December 2011 had until the 31 May 2012 to file their annual tax return. If you failed to do this and needs to renew your work permit and one year visa please kindly note that Immigration and Employment department no longer accept 2010 tax filling as supporting documents for the work permit renewal or one year visa extension.

Relation between tax filling and renewal of work permit and one year visa

Therefore if you are about to renew your work permit and one year visa and your company ended its tax year on the 31 December did not yet file its annual return 2011 kindly hurry to do the filling prior to the renewal application otherwise your application will fail.

Online Vs Traditional Filling

If you have done an online filing note that you need to obtain a certified copy of the tax return from the Revenue Department in order to support your application. Therefore we recommend you if your company support a foreign employee work permit and one year visa not to file your annual tax online but to keep filling it directly with the Revenue Department and Ministry of Commerce.

Companies that closed their tax year at other time

For companies that do not close their tax year on the 31 December the deadline for the filling in 5 months after the end of the tax year. Therefore if your company closed its accounts at end of March you can still use the 2010 tax fillings documents to support your work permit renewal.
