In several of my previous posts I have commented on the too short lease period duration in Thailand by comparison to other Asian countries but I had to date to provide to my readers any basis for comparison which I have done now with a table comparing the lease duration period in 13 Asian countries including Thailand.

The Pattaya Mail reported today that, according to sources from several police divisions a serious crackdown on Bar Businesses would begin next month that would target GoGo bars, Beer Bars, Gay Bars and any other bars which are charging bar fines to the customers to let their employees leave work early. Now according to the Pattaya Mail, the police “suspects that many of these rendezvous are sexually related”.

Getting married in Thailand? That will be a life-changing decision for the better (hopefully) or the worth (it can also happen). Now that you are getting married will come the time where you will be requested to honor the Thai Tradition of the Dowry system. While in European culture the dowry is more something that has to be paid or provided for by the family of the future wife in Thailand the dowry has to be paid by the groom.

While companies are juristic persons and cannot be as such subject to the punishment of imprisonment it does not mean that a company may not be prosecuted for a criminal offence in Thailand. To the contrary, companies may be prosecuted the same way as individuals.

An investor that desires to buy a business in Thailand will have several options as follows:
1. Acquisition of Shares
2. Transfer of the Entire Business Assets
- with immediate liquidation of the transferor company
- without liquidation of the transferor company
3. Amalgamation

Foreign investors who wish to come into Thailand to conduct a business or to work must first obtain a Non Immigrant Visa B with a Royal Thai Embassy.
The Non Immigrant Visa B will allow you to stay in Thailand for a period of not more than 90 days at a time. This visa may be granted for a single entry or multi entries.

The private limited company is the legal vehicle that is the most commonly used by foreign investors in Thailand and we will hereinafter review the formalities of registration of a private limited company. Many foreigners living or travelling to Thailand will end up marrying a Thai woman which bring the question of the pre-nuptial agreement.The first thing you need to know when marrying in Thailand is that a prenuptial agreement will be valid only if it is registered at the time of marriage registration, and it is made in writing, signed by both parties and at least two witnesses.

There are a lot of lists most of us dreamt to be on (fortune list, most influent people, most eligible bachelor and so on….) but there is one you definitively don’t want to be on, Thailand immigration blacklist.
Note: I would be unfair to Thailand if I did not state that Thailand is not the only country with an immigration blacklist. All countries have one.

Following yesterday post I’m continuing the discussion on IMG world competitiveness survey. The second aspect of the survey is to compare each country rankings for Government and Business Efficiency. In a perfect world Government and Business Efficiency should be balanced but very few countries do achieve this feat.
Among the best are Hong Kong which is ranking No 1 for Government Efficiency and Business Efficiency, Singapore and Australia ranking respectively No 2 and No 7th on both counts. But well balanced results are not always a good thing as shown like Mexico and Romania that ranks badly in both Government and Business Efficiency with scores that are respectively at 43/59 and 49/59
