I often like to read what other bloggers have to say about Thailand and I was reading the story of a foreign husband whose wife had a gambling addiction (which the husband did not know about). She then borrowed from loan shark, and then had to sell the jewelry and furniture’s her husband buy for her and finally has not other options left than to flee and to cut contact with her husband.

Now a lot of foreign investors or employees in Thailand believe that once they have obtained a work permit they are safe and can do whatsoever they please. For example they believe that they can work anywhere they want or that they can also exercise activities which are not mentionned in their work permit. A client just read an article on the “O Dependant Visa” which allows parents of children schooled in Thailand to apply for a one year visa. What is the Withholding Tax?

Withholding Tax is a tax collected by a deduction made on a payment when said payment is made. The payer who will remit it to the Revenue Department on behalf of the payee collects the tax. The tax the payer collect and remit to the Revenue Department on behalf of the payee will become a credit that will apply against the income tax (personal or corporate) due by the payee.
