Extending a Non Immigrant Visa B for one year

A foreign investor conducting a business in Thailand or working for a Thai company may if all conditions and documentary requirements are fulfilled file an application and obtain a one year visa.

The Revenue Department is the largest source of income for the Thai Government representing up to 80% of its revenues. Now as a result of the 2008 crisis the Revenue Department underperformed in 2009 (180 Billion Baht below target) while on the other hand the Government committed huge amounts of funds to support the economy increasing the public debt.

One of the reasons I’m calling the nominee scrutiny a “Witch Hunt” is because one of the declared target of said inquiry will be the “Thai wife”. Yes, the Thai wife, not the Thai Spouse. There is gender discrimination in this whole Thai wife business that i do not like at all.

May a foreign citizen open a bank account in Thailand?

The answer is of course yes, or more accurately yes, but…

As a matter of fact the issue of the opening of a bank account by a foreign non-resident is one of the most confusing issues for foreigners in Thailand because there is a huge discreptancy between the theory and the practice.

May the Thai spouse of a foreigner own land or not?

During his latest nationwide inspection tour of 30 provinces, Anuwat Meteewiboonwut, the director-general of the Thai Land Department let an old monster lose again. In substance is said that foreigners that the titled deed of Thais spouses that are purchasing land on behalf of their foreign spouses could be revoked if the land department was to find out.
