    April 15 2014

There are many reasons why obtaining a second passport or citizenship (dual nationality) may be a smart move for example, political instability in your country makes obtaining visas for travel difficult or impossible, your assets or yourself are at risk of litigation, your freedom to work, invest, and purchase property where you choose is restricted in any way by your current citizenship…

The Idiotic Mindset is not Specific to Thailand

    April 15 2014

There was a very interesting article in the Bangkok Post this morning by a journalist named Kong Rithdee about what the author call Thailand’s Idiotic Mindset. In his article he was dealing with two subjects which are definitively idiotic. The first subject he dealt with was a question of the O-Net national test for Grade 12 students that was as follows:Question: What should you do when you have a sexual urge? Definitively an endearing question.

Global Peace Indicator – Thailand Ranking

    April 15 2014

I have always considered Thailand a safe country by comparison to other countries, indeed it is still possible to walk on the street without having to be affraid of being victime of an agression. While i felt at peace in Thailand the fact is that it is not as peaceful as I believed which is why I’m very surprised to see that it fairs so badly in the Global Peace Index. With a ranking of 107 out of 153 countries surveyed the least we can say is that Thailand is not as “peaceful” as it seems. And this was the 2011 ranking. Not sure how much the degradation of the situation in the south of Thailand will affect Thailand ranking in next year ranking

How to set a Company with Thai Shareholders that may be deemed nominees (2) the two-tier structure

    April 15 2014

This article is a continuation from yesterday post entitled “How to Set up a Company with Thai shareholders that may be Deemed Nominees (1) ». As explained yesterday the biggest problem for non-American foreign investors in Thailand is that the sectors in which they prefer to invest (bars, restaurants, services etc…) are mostly reserved for Thais and foreign investors that can only take minority (49%) participation in companies’ actives in those sectors.

Granting All Foreigners the Right to own a Rai of Land

    April 15 2014

Today I’m commenting on another point raised by Pattaya Times Drew Noyes in his letter to Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra on Updating Laws Affecting Foreigners. Mr. Noyes ask the Prime Minister if possible to allow all foreigners to buy up to one rai (1,600 square meters) of land for their Thailand residential home.
