I assume that many readers have in a recent past tried to assist a Thai citizen in obtaining a visa. Now what is your take on the process. Especially more and more Embassies in Thailand have contracted the services of Private companies to handle visas applications like for example TLS Contact for the French Embassies. This year again the buzz is to know who made it on the Billionaires list. I’m still not on it and i guess you are not too. This being said only five Thais made it on Forbes list. What surprised me is not so much who made it but who did not make it. See the thing is that Thailand has a huge shadow economy (shadow economy being all financial and commercial transactions that are not done officially and do not generate taxes or social securities payments).

One of the legal headaches limiting access of foreign buyers to the Thai real estate market is that Thai laws currently limit foreign buyer freehold purchases of condominium units to percent of the total area (reserved for private ownership) of a condominium building at any one time.

Yes. Thailand has low violent crime statistics compared to other countries such as France or the US. Of course, violence does exist but is not often directed at foreigners. While there are from time to time crimes against foreigners, they are still rarer than in your homeland and when foreigners do get into trouble, they, often bring it upon themselves.

If you are working without a work permit the first thing you must understand is that you are at risk of a control either from the Labor Officer or the Immigration Officer.

[There was a formating problem in our Sunday post. I reposted it again]. People purchasing real estate in Thailand are often fulfilling the goal of a lifetime. In the pursuit of their life dream they will often toss caution to the wind, lose all common sense and ignore some simple precautions.Truth is that the actual formalities to transfer a real estate property are fairly straight, simple and may be completed in a few hours which leads many buyers to believe that purchasing a property in Thailand will be a simple transaction when it is not always the case.
