Buying Property: May you trust your real estate agent (1)

    April 15 2014

Issues that may occur when using an agent

Most buyers purchasing real estate in Thailand will do so buy purchasing through the services of an agent.

The first difficulty buyers will encounter is that Thailand does not have for the time being (if there are, they aren’t enforced) a regulation that would obligate professional real estate agents to formally notify the buyer that they’re acting as the seller’s agent.

Buying Property: Comparing Foreign Land Ownership in Asia

    April 15 2014

Thailand foreign land ownership policy is often criticized by foreign buyers and to make their point the critics often refer to other countries in Asia that allows foreign land ownership. The message being Thailand should change its policy and allows foreigners to own land because otherwise Thailand will be at risk to see buyers going to purchase in Asian countries that have more opens policies in this regard. I think that those critics are unfair to Thailand and I will explain why in this post

The Idiotic Mindset is not Specific to Thailand

    April 15 2014

There was a very interesting article in the Bangkok Post this morning by a journalist named Kong Rithdee about what the author call Thailand’s Idiotic Mindset. In his article he was dealing with two subjects which are definitively idiotic. The first subject he dealt with was a question of the O-Net national test for Grade 12 students that was as follows:Question: What should you do when you have a sexual urge? Definitively an endearing question.

Doing Business in Thailand: Should I “Way” or should I not?

    April 15 2014

    What is “Thainess”

In a nutshell “Thainess” is a concept that provides the foundation for social harmony and the respect of order in a patriarchal, hierarchical society where people display cool heads, warm hearts, gratitude and public deference.

“Thainess” has a lot of by-products that we will discuss from time to time in this blog.

Thailand : Cost of living : Is thailand a cheap country?

    April 15 2014

There is a heated debate about whether prices have increased in Thailand or not. Of course they have increased. 15 years ago you could eat in the street for 10 to 15 thb. Today most of the food you find in the street is at prices from 35 to 45 THB. Now i dont think average salaries have increased by 300% during the same period. So the short answer is yes prices have increased in Thailand and for the biggest part during the past 4 years.
